What a full tax invoice must show
According to the VAT rules of Oman, a tax invoice includes:[1]
- The words "Tax Invoice".
- A sequential invoice number.
- The issue date and the supply date (and the payment date if paid before).
- Your full name, address and VATIN.
- Your client's full name, address and VATIN.
- A description of the goods or services, and the quantity of goods.
- The total excluding VAT and any discount.
- The VAT rate and the taxable value.
- The VAT due in OMR, even if the invoice is in another currency.
An invoice in English is accepted; be ready to provide an Arabic translation if the Tax Authority asks.[1] Amounts in OMR use 3 decimals (baisa); VAT is rounded to the nearest baisa.
Simplified tax invoice
You may issue a simplified tax invoice when the supply is under OMR 500, excluding VAT.[1] It shows at least the date, your VATIN, the taxable amount, the VAT rate and the VAT charged.[1]
E-invoicing
E-invoicing (Fawtara) becomes mandatory under Decision 189/2026: from 1 April 2027 for businesses with annual supplies above OMR 5 million, and from 1 October 2027 for all others.[2]
